Barnaul rapidly growing enterprise has been working since the 60's of the 20th century. It maintains a leading position in engineering industry by anticipating the needs and expectations of its customers and establishing long-term relationship with its partners.
Staying ahead of the curve, the enterprise has been using Microsoft solutions, including Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal, for several years. The use of intranet portal based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2001 (and later on Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003) has significantly increased the efficiency of business processes and improved team productivity. The solution has also given cost-effective foundation platform for building Web-based business applications that meet the growing needs of the business.
Business need
The enterprise faced some issues concerning integration portal data with inner system of documents workflow. For instance, there was no search within a great part of inner documents. Extranet and intranet were not integrated. To add a document to both portals, user had to upload it twice, which was very inconvenient and time consuming. All in all there were two independent portals which required much effort on support and improvement. There was a strong need in the enterprise portal upgrade.
In new portal development Enterra was needed to consider the enterprise employee habits and keep their loyalty at the same high level. It was also needed to integrate new design concept. "We wanted to have the latest version of the solution as it is more functional and has enhanced integration with Microsoft Office programs," says Eugene Timohin, the enterprise manager.
Solution and Benefits
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 offers business processes automatization with the help of Windows WorkFlow Foundation. It also provides an integrated location where employees can efficiently collaborate with team members, find organizational resources, search for corporate information, and leverage business insight to make better-informed decisions. Due to the high level of expertise, Enterra SharePoint developers provided smooth migration of intranet and extranet sites to a single portal. Enterra Team integrated existing file stores with the portal, formed metadata documents which finally gave a simple and quick search within the documents. Frequently used and important documents were organized into special handy lists, which significantly simplified their search and use at work. Automotive module of file copying is one of the main components of the solution. The module provides one-time data insert to both internet and extranet portals and their automatic update. The new design concept was implemented into the standardized user interfaces which reduced learning curves and made technology adoption easier for enterprise staff and external users.
Says Eugene Timohin, "We are pleased that Enterra delivered a solution that enhances the client experience and organized smooth document workflow for our employees."
